We use this list to send you details about our annual festival (this includes information about how to participate, or put a show into the festival, as well as just about what to see) We email an average of once a month, except in the run-up to the festival when there's more to say in news and more recommendations. We occasionally include information about other events which we think you might find interesting, but we do not and will never share our list with other organisations, allow others to analyse data, sell names, etc. We ask for a postcode because it helps us to know where audiences come from, and it's possible that some information may be more useful to people in the immediate locality.

You can unsubscribe via the link on every mailing you will get from us (including one you will receive in just a moment to confirm that you're on the list).

Tim Clayton & The Higher Lovers

Finally Made It To The Fringes

Formerly the guitarist and principal songwriter behind the Wiltshire/Somerset Band Sun Machine and now taking the stage as a solo artist as Tim Clayton & The Higher Lovers, sometimes with the Lovers, sometimes without.
His songs can fairly be described as bittersweet, incorporating influences as diverse as John Martyn, Linkin Park and PJ Harvey.
Starting his acoustic work in May 2012, he has gigged at the world renowned Fleece in Bristol and also played at Summer Festivals in Frome, Bradford On Avon and Bath. With Sun Machine, Tim has supported the likes of Argent, Wishbone Ash, The Strawbs, Stackridge and John Otway; played at the Bearded Theory festival; at the Fleece and the Louisiana in Bristol as well as being featured on BBC Introducing Wiltshire, with a Lemonrock Single of the Week accolade for good measure.

Tim is now developing his songwriting further at Bath Spa University on its MA Songwriting degree; and looking to get this new material across to a wider audience in the more intimate acoustic settings as well as in the larger halls.

And here's what some independent reviewers have already written about Tim:

"just when I was thinking all the great songs had already been written and originality was going to be an increasingly difficult act to come up with, along came Tim"

"an addictive dish served up with oozing atmospheric sounds and tightly composed, lyrically wonderful songs"

"Tim Clayton knows his stuff - and together with the aid of a platoon of foot-pedals, [has the] skill and a real feel for the material he played, covered this musical cake with a thick layer of icing that made you want to watch as well as listen."
